Wordeo video messaging app launched with Getty support

The new app blends an assortment of short 2-second video clips with your own written message, to “bring your words to life”.
Basically, the Wordeo app aims to enable you to create your own video messages easy and simply, without having to put in a lot of effort.
You write the message you wish to send and then Wordeo brings in video associated to each of those words. Appropriate words get their own 2-second video clip to illustrate your point.
Once you’ve written your message, you tap next to see a preview of your video message with pre-chosen video content. Here you can change the background music according to your mood, and scroll through some of the Getty footage tied to each word.
It’s very easy to use, scrolling down for more 2-second clips or up to add your own video footage from your iPhone’s camera roll. You can also shoot your video footage from within the Wordeo app. Swiping to the left or right changes the word you’re currently tweaking.
You can complete a Wordeo in under a minute, depending on how much time you spend tweaking the videos, font and music of your Wordeo video message.
It might seem like a mismatch of other apps like Vine, Instagram and Twitter, but we were pretty impressed with the end results.
The Wordeo creators are pretty impressive themselves, with the CEO David Bailey an ex-Apple executive and the CTO Bob Johnson responsible for building the back-end of the BBC iPlayer.
“Getty has been a partner in the [Wordeo] idea from the beginning. For them to let someone use their content in this way is completely revolutionary. They broke new ground with us on that”, explained Bailey to TrustedReviews. “That’s what we think is one of the things that makes us unique versus the other video messaging, content creation-type apps.”
Each video message can last up to 30 seconds, and you’ll see a green bar filling up as you write your message, letting you know how much more you can type.
As with Instagram and other apps, you can follow other Wordeo users and browse a constantly updated “Popular” feed. You can share your Wordeo creations on Twitter and Facebook too.
The London based company launched the free app today, January 14 for iOS only at first. There’s a dedicated iPad Wordeo app on the way, as well as an Android version in the future.
Nokia Lumia 1020 officially launched
Nokia has officially launched the Nokia Lumia 1020 at its dedicated “41 millions reasons” event in New York.
After the specs leaked earlier today, Nokia has officially unveiled its latest 41-megapixel camera smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1020.
“Pictures will mean more to you. You’ll see things with the device that you’ve never seen before. You’ll get closer than you’ve ever been before,” said Nokia at the event. “It’s the next chapter in smartphone photography.”
Nokia claims that its new “sensor innovation and technology we call oversampling” means the Nokia Lumia 1020 will produce the best photos ever produced by a smartphone. The oversampling is also translated into video recording.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 features an all new backside illuminated 41-megapixel sensor that Nokia says will enable users to take better pictures in daylight but also in low-light and night time conditions.
As introduced in the Nokia Lumia 920, the Nokia Lumia 1020 will also have optical image stabilisation. It’ll have 2nd generation OIS that combats any blur or shake in photographs and videos.
Nokia also says it has “reinvented zoom”, in that oversampling allows users to zoom into details on their pictures even after they’ve been taken.
The Lumia 1020 also has 6 lenses within its Carl Zweiss technology to increase the sharpness and the zooming capabilities.
Users can also take a photo and then later go back and edit or frame their images to tell “a different story”. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer says it is its “shoot first, zoom later” focus for the Lumia 1020.
It also has manual exposure settings on it too.
Nokia Pro Camera, an all-new camera app for the Lumia 1020, means Nokia has made it easy for users to make the most of its new 41-megapixel camera technology. It offers photo editing software directly from the Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
It’ll come in yellow, black and white when it launches, all made from special material that means the colours won’t fade with time or use.
Specs-wise, the Nokia Lumia runs Windows Phone 8 on a 4.5-inch AMOLED screen with a 1280 x 768p resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It has a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory and 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage.
Powered by a 2000mAh battery, users can opt to purchase the snap-on Nokia Camera Grip that offers access to camera features and a screw mount for tripods. It also increases the battery by an additional 1,200mAh.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 is coming to the US first as an AT&T exclusive for $299.99 on a two-year contract on July 26. It will arrive in the UK sometime this quarter for an unknown price.

Sony Xperia E1 launched as mid range audio focused smartphone
Sony has launched a new mid-range smartphone called the Sony Xperia E1, which it claims will be “the best in its class”.

Aiming to complement the high-end Sony Xperia Z1, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Xperia E1 smartphone focuses on its Sony Walkman heritage as it offers a 100dB speaker and 30 days free access to the Sony Entertainment network.
“Xperia E1 combines the best of Sony’s audio technologies with a premium design and great hardware to create a smartphone for people who want to express them out loud,” said Calum MacDougall, Director of Sony Xperia Marketing. “It’s a new, music focused player in our Xperia line-up that is underpinned by the best of Sony’s design, display and content offers.”
Sony Xperia E1 Features
The Sony Xperia E1 features a 4-inch 800 x 480p HD resolution display running Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.
It has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8210 dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage boosted by a microSD slot supporting cards up to 32GB.
In the rear is a 3-megapixel camera, offering 720p HD video recording and a 4x “smooth zoom”. It seems to lack a front-facing camera for any kind of video calling or selfie action.
The Xperia E1 brings back the dedicated Walkman button, shake to shuffle controls and you’ll get access to a free 30 day pass for Sony’s Entertainment Network music streaming service. It also comes pre-installed with the Sony Walkman app.
Weighing only 120g, the Xperia E1 has 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sony Xperia E1 Release Date and Price
Sony says the handset will retail for €175 (£145), and will be released around the end of MWC 2014 in February. It will be available in black, white and purple.
