HTC One 2 clears Wi Fi certification ahead of unveiling
The HTC One 2 has edged closer to the realms of reality, with the HTC One follow-on clearing its Wi-Fi certification ahead of an upcoming official unveiling.

Currently doing the rounds under the moniker of the HTC M8, the heavily rumoured HTC One 2 has made yet another premature appearance, with Wi-Fi certification records showing that the upcoming handset will boast a Wi-Fi antenna with the ability of alternating between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
As you would expect from a modern flagship phone, the HTC One 2 will also reportedly support all current Wi-Fi standards, as well as the latest 802.11ac format.
While these latest HTC One 2 leaks will come as little surprise to many, they are part of a much wider range of HTC One 2 rumours to do the rounds in recent weeks.
According to latest reports, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S rivalling device will sport a speedier 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a new, larger 5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel Full HD resolution. The existing HTC One hosts a 4.7-inch display.
Building on the strong foundations of its current flagship phone, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC will also bestow the HTC One 2 with another premium metal construction.
Recently leaked HTC One 2 pictures have suggested that the phone will be crafted from a single piece of metal, giving the device a premium look and feel.
Earlier this month a UK Judge revealed that the HTC One 2 would be unveiled in February as the spin off HTC One Mini was briefly pulled from sale in the UK.
HTC One Mini release date news and rumours
The HTC One Mini is looking more and more likely as the rumours surrounding the handset continue to flow thick and fast.
With the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini last year, followed by the Galaxy S4 Mini this year, theres a clear market for cut price flagship smartphones.
The general rule, it seems, with these "mini" versions is they look almost identical to their big brothers but specs are slashed - quad-core becomes dual-core, full HD becomes 720p at best and cameras also take a bit of a beating.
While they may be "mini" in name, they arent exactly mini in nature with an average screen size of 4.3-inches making these handsets bigger than the iPhone 5 - so youll probably still need a decent sized pocket for the HTC One Mini.
Rumours of a One Mini handset first arose in April 2013, with early reports name checking the device as the HTC M4.
To help you get an idea of what you might be able to expect from the HTC One Mini weve rounded up all those unruly rumours into our smartphone pen for your perusal.

If Samsungs pricing regime for its mini handsets is anything to go by then you can expect the HTC One Mini to sport a mid to high-end price tag which will see it go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Sony Xperia SP, BlackBerry Q5 and Nokia Lumia 820.

HTC M8 to feature twin sensor UltraPixel camera
The HTC M8 could feature a twin-sensor UltraPixel camera according to a new rumour.

Along with a larger display, the HTC One follow-on could upgrade its UltraPixel rear camera with a twin-sensor.
Citing a “person with direct knowledge of the plans”, Bloomberg has obtained information suggesting the HTC M8 will feature a twin-sensor rear camera to improve camera performance
It will be an improved version of the UltraPixel camera, but the twin-sensors will improve depth of field, image quality and better focus, according to the source.
The improved camera will be coupled with a larger screen size somewhere between the One’s 4.7-inch screen and the 5.9-inch HTC One Max.
Previous specs leaks put the screen size of the HTC One Two at 5-inches, with a Full 1080p HD resolution running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
Other rumoured specs include Android 4.4 KitKat, HTC Sense 6.0 UI and 2GB of RAM.
Earlier this week, two HTC M8 cases leaked suggesting it will feature an integrated fingerprint scanner just as the One Max.
The cases showed a large hole for what is thought to be an enhanced fingerprint scanner, very evidently different in shape to the HTC One Max’s rear scanner.
HTC is opting for a more invasive fingerprint scanner position, unlike the Touch ID sensor built into the home button of the iPhone 5S from Apple.
The HTC M8 is strongly expected to make an official appearance at MWC 2014, or at a dedicated event just before the Barcelona-based technology show.
This time last year, the Taiwanese company was gearing up to launch the HTC One at a special London-based event prior to MWC.

The HTC Desire 816 has been officially unveiled at MWC 2014, with the mid-range handset landing with a HTC One inspired design.
Set to target a lower price point than the company’s flagship offering, the HTC Desire 816 has been unveiled while the upcoming HTC One 2 reamins shrouded in mystery.
“This year, one of our plans is to take some of our great design and experiences to even more people,” HTC CEO Peter Chou said in unveiling the HTC Desire 816.
He added: “With the HTC One leading in the premium segment, it is clear there is a great opportunity in the middle of the market.”
HTC Desire 816 Features
Increasing the expectations of the mid-range smartphone market, the HTC Desire 816 features a 5.5-inch 720p HD display.
Running Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS skinned with the company’s Sense UI, the phone is set to be made available in a range of colours, with white, black, green and red backed handsets all sporting premium facia.
Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, the mid-range HTC Desire 816 adds a 13-megapiexl rear camera alongside a 5-megapixel forward-facing snapper. On top of this, forward-facing stereo speakers, much like the BoomSound offerings found on the HTC One are present.

All New HTC One 2 benchmarks reveal significant hardware improvements
A set of All New HTC One benchmarks have appeared online, suggesting that the handset will be quite the powerhouse.
AnTuTu benchmark scores for the HTC One 2, which will launch officially as the All New HTC One, with the handset significantly more powerful than its predecessor, the HTC One.
The surfaced image lists how well the All New HTC One performs against rivals like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S4. It outranks all them by a long way, including the powerful Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It even out-performs the LG G2, which was one of the first handset to be launched with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Sadly, the Samsung Galaxy S5 isnt listed here, so we cant compare it to the latest phones on the market including the Sony Xperia Z2.
This power will most likely come from the HTC One 2’s claimed Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, but will also be down to how HTC optimises the handset.
These benchmarks may not even be carried out on a final version of the software, so we could see the HTC One 2’s performance increase further.
The HTC One 2 is also expected to come with 2GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot (as seen in the latest leaked video).
It is also tipped to feature a 5-inch full 1080 x 1920p HD resolution display with a 441ppi image density.
No doubt the device will run on Android 4.4 KitKat, complemented by the latest HTC Sense 6 UI, which is said to bring improvements to the HTC BlinkFeed feature among other things.
From all the leaks and official HTC teasers, we strongly expect the All New HTC One to feature a brand new dual-sensor rear UltraPixel camera and the same aluminium metal uni-body as its predecessor.

No more Android updates for HTC One S after just one year on sale
HTC has confirmed that its 2012 mid-range handset, the HTC One S, will not receive any further Android updates.
The highly-rared device, launched in April last year, will not get Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie after that, and will be stuck on Android 4.1 for ever more.
The 15-month-old handset also wont receive the latest version of HTC Sense, although thatll be of far less significant to most who recently snapped up the device.
In a befuddling statement, the company said it understood some users disappointment, but for some reason thinks the amazing camera and Beats Audio experience already present on the device make up for it.
HTC said: "We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences."
Perhaps something was lost in translation?
It is a somewhat surprising move from HTC as it seeks to win back some of the customers it has lost to the Samsung Galaxy range of smartphones.
Those thinking of buying a new handset from the company may think twice if they believe the device will become practically obsolete after only a year on sale.
In somewhat better news for those already rocking the newest HTC One handset, the company has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in some international markets today. The latest word we had was that itd be arriving in the UK sometime this month.

How to root the HTC One
The HTC One is a massively popular phone -- so popular that its manufacturer is struggling to keep up with demand. Should you be lucky enough to own this blisteringly fast Android powerhouse, then youve no doubt already marvelled at its terrific screen, punchy stereo speakers and solid build quality. If all of the Ones built-in features are still not enough to satisfy you, then perhaps youre ready to take your handset to the next level -- and that means getting root access.
Root access allows you to do all kinds of amazing things, such as installing custom firmware, removing stubborn applications and generally gaining more control over your device. Like so many things in life, rooting isnt without its risks. Tampering with your phones software invalidates your warranty, and if something goes wrong during the procedure you could end up with an expensive paperweight. As always, we can take absolutely no responsibility for any damage or loss of data that may occur from following this guide.
Mercifully, the process outlined below is pretty foolproof and weve already tested it ourselves, so assuming youre still brave enough, lets get down to business. The guide assumes youre using a Windows-based PC.
To root the HTC One youll need to unlock the phones bootloader. This wipes everything on the handset, so make sure youve already backed up all of your valuable data, such as photos, videos and audio. Once you move onto the next step, youve got to be prepared to lose it all.
Before you can do any rooting, youll have to unlock the HTC Ones bootloader. Visit HTCs dev site and register, if you havent already. Follow the steps provided to place your phone into Fastboot mode and request the device ID token required to perform the unlock. Youll need the latest version of the Android SDK to do this, so make sure youve downloaded it beforehand.
Once youve got the token, youll need to input it into the HTC dev site, after which point youll get the code used to unlock the phone, plus instructions on how to do it. During the unlock process youll need to place all related files in a folder. Make sure you place it on your desktop, as youll be putting more stuff in there as part of the next step of the guide.
Grab the latest version of TWRP recovery (currently 2.5.0.0) and place it in the same folder where you downloaded the previous files.
Youll need to regress to the world of MS-DOS for this next bit, which might bring back unhappy memories for anyone over the age of 30. Open up the Start menu in Windows and type "cmd" and press enter, then use "cd/desktop/xxxxx" (with the "xxxxx" being the name of the folder) to navigate to the folder where you previously downloaded all the files.
Youre prepped PC-side, but now you need to make sure your HTC One is ready for the rooting process to begin. Place the phone into Fastboot mode by turning it off completely and then holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons. Select Fastboot using the volume rocker and press the power button to select it. Now connect your phone to your PC using a Micro-USB cable.
In the command prompt, type "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img". The TWRP recovery will then be flashed to your phone. After this has completed, restart your phone.
Download the SuperUser application from here and copy it to the root of the phones internal memory. To install it, youll need to boot the phone into recovery mode. Switch off the handset and hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons again. Navigate to Recovery and press the power button. From the next menu, tap Install and then select the SuperUser.zip file you copied across earlier. Once that process is complete, reboot your freshly rooted HTC One and enjoy.

Once youve got the token, youll need to input it into the HTC dev site, after which point youll get the code used to unlock the phone, plus instructions on how to do it. During the unlock process youll need to place all related files in a folder. Make sure you place it on your desktop, as youll be putting more stuff in there as part of the next step of the guide.
3. Download TWRP recovery
Grab the latest version of TWRP recovery (currently 2.5.0.0) and place it in the same folder where you downloaded the previous files.
4. Open up a command prompt
Youll need to regress to the world of MS-DOS for this next bit, which might bring back unhappy memories for anyone over the age of 30. Open up the Start menu in Windows and type "cmd" and press enter, then use "cd/desktop/xxxxx" (with the "xxxxx" being the name of the folder) to navigate to the folder where you previously downloaded all the files.
5. Place your HTC One into fastboot mode
Youre prepped PC-side, but now you need to make sure your HTC One is ready for the rooting process to begin. Place the phone into Fastboot mode by turning it off completely and then holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons. Select Fastboot using the volume rocker and press the power button to select it. Now connect your phone to your PC using a Micro-USB cable.
6. Flash TWRP recovery to your HTC One
In the command prompt, type "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img". The TWRP recovery will then be flashed to your phone. After this has completed, restart your phone.
7. Download and install SuperUser
Download the SuperUser application from here and copy it to the root of the phones internal memory. To install it, youll need to boot the phone into recovery mode. Switch off the handset and hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons again. Navigate to Recovery and press the power button. From the next menu, tap Install and then select the SuperUser.zip file you copied across earlier. Once that process is complete, reboot your freshly rooted HTC One and enjoy.

CyanogenMod 11 Android 4 4 2 Kit Kat OS for HTC One Mini How to install it
Did you get HTC One Mini and want to upgrade it to KitKat 4.4 OS? If yes, then I have got an *extra* thing for you. I hope you know "CyanogenMod" ROMs. Most of you might know whats that, so I wont write a long paragraph on explaining what CyanogenMod is.
HTC One Mini users can now enjoy latest Android OS, Android 4.4 Kit Kat on their mini devices. Also, it is not 4.4 OS, it is based on latest CyanogenMod sources: 4.4.2 KK.
The ROM is built by recognized developer h8rift in XDA-Developers website, which is very much popular for development and Android tricks and tweaks. Also this ROM is compiled with 4.8 toolchain, which modifies RAMDisk by tweaking it and also it has modified load address.
The ROM is tested by users and is fully compatible with ClockWorkMod Recovery (touch recovery has not been tested yet) which is fully working on HTC One s-off and unlocked.

- The installationg guide of Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat CyanogenMod ROM is only meant for HTC One Mini users only, and not for HTC One or any other HTC or non-HTC device. If you are trying this ROM in your handset, then let me be clear that it wont boot in any device except HTC One Mini and MXRootRom holds no warranty about their devices.
- Make sure you have latest version of recovery. TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) v2.6.3.0 and CWM (ClockWorkMod) v6.0.4.5 is fully compatible with this ROM, if you dont have these recoveries, then also it will work fine.
- Backup your device before trying anything mentioned in this guide! You can make a Nandroid backup in CWM Recovery by going to Backup and Restore and selecting Backup option. For TWRP Recovery, go to Nandroid backup, and select every partition to backup them and press X.
- Do make sure that the drivers are installed on your computer to connect HTC One Mini so that you can transfer files (ROM and other ZIPs).
- Ensure USB Debugging option is working. To reveal the option, go to Settings, follow to About phone and tap 7 times on build number. Now go back and you will see a new option Developer options. Enable it and enable USB Debugging too.
- Make sure you have more than 70% of battery to install Android 4.4 Kit Kat (CM 11) on your device.
- Also confirm that your device is unlocked (depends upon carriers) and rooted with the TWRP or CWM Recovery.

How To Install Android 4.4 Kit Kat CM11 in HTC One Mini via TWRP Recovery
- Power off your mobile phone by pressing power button for sometime and clicking on Shutdown.
- Now press and hold Volume up and Power button simultanesouly for sometime and when there will be a splash, stop holding Power button but keep holding Volume down button until you are in Bootloader.
- Press volume down buttons to select Recovery option in the Bootloader console. Press Power Button to enter into it.
- Make a full wipe by pressing on Wipe data/Factory reset option (this will delete your all messages, emails, applications, data and everything except SD Card and System.) Now press Wipe option and swipe left to right on Swipe to factory reset option in TWRP.
- Tap on install and follow to the cm11.zip which you recently moved to your SD Card and click on it. After clicking on, it swipe on Swipe to confirm flash.
- If you want to flash GApps, then follow these steps again but replace CM11.zip by GApps!
- Now flash boot image (boot.img) file by fastboot. Select reboot and then tap to system to reboot your device.
- It will be soon running on latest Android 4.4 Kit Kat OS.
How To Install Android 4.4 Kit Kat CyanogenMod 11 ROM in HTC One Mini via CWM Recovery
- Shut down your device completely and keep it untouched for few seconds.
- Now press and hold Volume down and Power buttons for few seconds to boot into Bootloader. When you will see screen lightened up, then unpress Power button but keep pressing Volume down button. Now select recovery option from the recovery. (Use Power button to select the option and volume buttons to move up or down.)
- Perform wipe data/factory reset by selecting this option in CWM Recovery and confirm it (this will delete everything like TWRP except System and other filesystems.) Now go to advance and select on wipe dalvik cache and again, confirm the option. Go back and select wipe cache partition and confirm it!
- Select Install Zip from sdcard and select Choose zip from sdcard option in the CWM Recovery. Browse and select the cm11.zip ROM from your SD Card.
- Repeat all the actions (except wiping) to flash GApps as well on your HTC One Mini.
- Go back to the main menu of CWM Recovery and select reboot system now option from it.
- It will not take more than 10 minutes to boot into the CyanogenMod 11 or Android 4.4 Kit Kat OS.
If your device gets stuck at bootloop or doesnt boot till 10 minutes then wipe again without flashing the ROM from any recovery.

HTC One 2 passes through FCC with familiar specs
The HTC One 2 or the All New HTC One has just passed through the FCC with a familiar set of specs.
Following a wealth of leaks surrounding HTC’s upcoming flagship, the device has been spotted passing through the FFC ahead of its March 25 unveiling.
The mandatory FFC approval process comes with a sketched outlined design of the HTC One 2 that matches previously leaked press renders of the phone with its soft curve corners.
There’s nothing surprising about the FFC listing, with the phone said to feature a 5-inch full 1080p HD display running on a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM.
It will also arrive with a dual-sensor Ultrapixel rear camera offering around a 5-megapixel Ultrapixel resolution.
This is expected to help depth of field, image quality and focusing abilities over the existing HTC One’s rear camera.
The FCC filing also confirms that it will have multiple band 4G LTE compatibility along with Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity.
The All New HTC One was originally expected to launch at MWC 2014, but HTC has now released invites for a special launch event on March 25 in London.

HTC M8 features include navigational bar rather than soft touch buttons

Tipped to launch around MWC 2014, the HTC M8 could lack any soft touch navigational buttons, making it the first HTC device to do so.
According to notorious tech tipster @evleaks, the HTC M8 could feature an on-screen navigational bar rather than the usual array of soft touch buttons located underneath the display.
“M8 will be the first HTC device with on-screen buttons”, reads the @evleaks tweet.
Samsung and HTC are two of the only Android device manufacturers to persevere with capacitive buttons, but it seems HTC’s next flagship could follow in the Google Nexus 5’s footprints.
In the past, Google has argued that the adoption of the navigation bar would help standardise the Android experience, but some manufacturers have been averse to the suggestion.
Android 4.4 KitKat introduced Immersive Mode that make it easier for app developers to take advantage of the device’s full screen estate without losing access to the navigation bar. It can be accessed as a semi-transparent menu by dragging down from the top of the screen, disappearing if it is not engaged with.
This means smartphone and tablet manufacturers have little excuse not to introduce the touch-screen navigation bar rather than a row of soft touch buttons. Removing the latter would allow for reduced bezels and smaller designs without losing screen estate.
Other rumoured features include an enhanced fingerprint scanner, Android 4.4 KitKat, HTC Sense 6.0 UI and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM.
It is also tipped to feature a 5-inch full 1080p HD resolution display and a twin-sensor rear UltraPixel camera.
The HTC M8 should launch at a special event just before the Barcelona-based MWC 2014 conference, perhaps held in London like the HTC One launch.

HTC One 2 pictures tease remodelled design
New HTC One 2 pictures have surfaced, with the latest leaked images teasing the remodelled design destined to feature on the Samsung Galaxy S5 rival.
With last year’s HTC One having wowed consumers and critics alike with its sleek, brushed aluminium body that offered premium, high-end looks, the Taiwanese manufacturer looks set to stick to a similar plan for the inbound HTC One 2.
Caught on camera by a UK-based developer, the claimed HTC One 2 images show a device with a familiar, brushed metal finish and curved, rounded-back form factor.
The subtle differences between the HTC One and leaked HTC One 2 designs mark big changes, however, with a second camera sensor added to the phone’s rear while around front the soft-touch Android keys have been removed in favour of digital, on-screen controls.
This moving of soft-touch keys has seemingly allowed the manufacturer to fit a larger screen into a body the same size as the original HTC One.
Maintaining design principles introduced in last year’s model, the HTC One 2 looks set to run BoomSound Stereo speakers and a secondary camera on the device’s fore.
With a small, second sensor shown to have been added to the HTC One 2’s Ultrapixel primary camera, the new addition is located directly above the main sensor. It has been suggested that this additional sensor will provide improved focus times and metering for the phone’s photographic abilities.
On top of this, the phone’s flash will reportedly jump from a single LED to a dual-LED offering, again improving photographic options.
One thing missing from the HTC One 2 that was found on its predecessor, however, is the phone’s Beats Audio credentials, with the branding that accompanied the audio enhancing addition removed from the phone’s rear.
Although a number of high-end handsets are expected to be unveiled during MWC 2014 next week, expected that the HTC One 2 will not be unveiled until a dedicated launch event on March 18.

HTC One Android 4 4 KitKat update to launch next week
Following much talk, HTC has confirmed that the eagerly awaited HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update will start being rolled out from next week.

While the Taiwanese manufacturer has confirmed that the HTC One KitKat update will be made available for unlocked handset owners in the US within a matter of days, the company has yet to detail when UK residents can expect the software patch.
“HTC One owners, final KitKat software has entered carrier labs for final testing and expect certification next week,” the company announced via its official Twitter feed.
Far from a surprise release, 84 days ago the manufacturer announced that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update would be rolled out within 90 days, a promise that has ensured next week will see the software introduced.
While HTC continues to update its current flagship phone, attention has already turned to the company’s next-generation handset.
Recent HTC One 2 rumours have claimed that the second-generation device will be officially unveiled next month, in the days leading up to MWC 2014.
As well as boasting a further refined metal-hewn body, the HTC One 2, also doing the rounds under the moniker of the HTC M8, will be upgraded to a 5-inch, 1080p Full HD display, Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and the Android 4.4 KitKat OS as standard.
